She may need “someone”, but it's not you. People tend to confide in their longterm friends about stuff like this, not some guy they've just started “talking to”. Don't try to position yourself as indispensable to her. She's made it clear that she views you purely platonically at this point and you can't use this as an opportunity to try to catch her when she's emotionally weak. If she ever wants more than what she's already stated she'll let you know. She's simply not going to date you, not right now at least, and attempting to move yourself into her inner friend circle isn't going to change that.
