See, I paid rent to my mom after I moved back in after college for two years. I only paid for utilities and groceries though, not for her mortgage. Paying off the mortgage only benefits the house owner. You will be getting equity, while your gf gets nothing. She doesn't rent from you, she lives with you. She doesn't get her own apartment, you will have the main say about anything considering your living, if you break up, she has to find a new place to live, most of the furniture and appliances will belong to you etc.. and those are all disadventages without her paying towards your house. That just makes the power gap even bigger. Your mortgage is the same, whether she lives there or not. Therefore you're using your gf to pay for something that solely benefits you. You do you, but I think that's pretty unfair in a partnership.

This. What you said is very respectful and leaves a great impression umo. A genuinely busy but interested person would hit you up later. Or she might not be interested, in which case your reaction was also graceful. I personally have contacted a guy later spesifically because he responded something similar to me being having a busy time in my life – and I was interested from the start, of course. In similar cases where a guy has kept insisting I have noped out very quick because it feels suffocating.
