Agreed. Anecdotally, my grandfather owned a business and spent a lot of money on “the moment”. He's in his 70s now, the business is gone, and he will probably work until he needs a caretaker

She wasn't even asking for something expensive–but he appears to have gone out of his way to buy what she wouldn't like.
