I think, if you start really examining what is going on, that being upset about the proposal is just the tip of the iceberg. I mean, think about it.

LISTEN TO YOUR GUT. This is all about what is convenient for him. Does he actually love you, or are you just his best option right now? Can you see yourself growing old with this person? Does the relationship have the depth to last? Given how he handles conflict (avoidance and irritation), is this just the first of many arguments?
If you are starting to doubt whether this is the right move, I would really encourage the two of you to have marriage counselling (it doesn't have to be religious). An experienced counsellor will bring up points that are common divisive issues for you to talk through, and you can get a better idea of if the two of you are truly compatible, or if you are carried away on the romantic idea of a dream…… and if you are really “Miss Right”, not just “Miss Right Now”.
