You've only been with this guy nine months. I would not be meeting his family (let alone considering moving in together) this early and with all this drama.
I suggest you concentrate on dating, and being good to each other, and getting to know each other better. Give it another nine months then revisit the 'meeting the family' thing. All you can do is consistently show you are a solid, loving partner over time.
In another nine months you will either be really solid – and have the confidence to give no fucks about these drama llamas – or, you'll realize the relationship might not be working and you'll part ways.

There is no planet on which you should be catching flak because a friend you threw away (twice) at his behest happens to be taking a class you're in. There's no planet on which you should dump a friend because you're dating someone who doesn't trust you. If Bob was an ex, there would be a little more room for nuance but Bob's not an ex.
The only person I feel bad for in this is poor Bob, who probably deserves far better than to be treated as a disposable convenience. Don't be too surprised if he doesn't want to reconnect when you decide that you have way too much life ahead of you to allow some dude to tell you who you can and can't be friends with.

I don’t personally have an issue with the age gap, I have dated a number of men with similar age gaps and there has never been this problem so I think that’s why it feels harder for me. I really appreciate your comments and you are right, thank you
I'm not someone that thinks age gaps are automatically a problem, but with some types of guys it's very clear very quickly why they prefer younger women and you can usually spot them a mile away with this kind of controlling behavior.
If you meet someone at random, happen to hit it off, and discover later you're further apart in age than you thought at first: probably not a big deal. But when a guy in his 40s sets up his dating profile to match with women in their 20s that is a red flag so big it can be seen from space.
