You need to figure out how you feel about him. The mother is an entirely different human living her life. It’s his mom. He loves and supports her. Did he himself set them up? Other than that, I can’t see how her relationship has anything to do with your man. If you have cold feet, you need to sit down and examine your own relationship and figure out what you want.
You need to ask him point blank why he'd want to pretend to be abusive or an asshole to your friends and family.
If you know this issue is going to persist and he is not going to take the steps to change it I think you know there's only one path people are going to tell you to take.
