There are a lot of things in here you seem to accept as “normal relationship issues” that are actually things I would have zero tolerance for in a relationship and break up immediately.
I'm no psychologist but I would guess you had the screaming meltdown as a culmination of all the unacceptable things that you've turned a blind eye to.
Having good communication and both being respectful of each other should be bare minimum for even a friendship let alone a romantic relationship. Things like common career and both being attractive aren't really solid things to build a relationship on.
