A roof over your head is of the utmost importance – housing, food, and safety comes before everything else. Have a conversation with her about celebrating Valentine’s Day after you get housing sorted out. How she responds will be indicative of how healthy your relationship is.

   Are you a student? Are you in the US? Some colleges have programs to assist students that are at risk of homelessness. My area has a transitional housing program specifically for students. Get started now to see what programs you are eligible for. If your area has a 211 helpline then call them, their whole purpose is to refer people in need to resources. Ask about transitional housing programs as well as low income housing to see if there are any programs available that you may be eligible for. Also inquire about house sharing programs where there may be an older adult in need of a roommate that can assist with household chores in place of rent. Explore these options while you are searching for a new rental house/apartment that way you maximize your chances of securing housing one way or another. I’m a social worker and this is what I’ve told clients that have been in similar situations.

It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders, you are obviously a very caring partner to have considered your fiancée’s feelings while going through this.
