Exactly about the 1 message thing. I had an ex that a few years later walked into the restaurant where I worked and discovered me. Apologized for his horrible behavior after our break up give years prior when he threatened my next boyfriend – and ended up scaring him off. He was thrilled to see me (and this a year after he had a baby with someone else?). And disappointed that not only was I not available, but engaged (a week before the wedding). He came in a week later while I was off expressing such grief that I was married. And then MONTHS later started coming in again. And I was largely pregnant. More grief. So I mentioned the fact that he had a son, he couldn't really be THAT heartbroken, and I couldn't “let him down gently” anymore.
I think that now that you’ve heard what she has to say I would set a boundary. I would tell her that you’re very uncomfortable that she’s maintaining personal connection to this guy. There are so many posts on Reddit about couples where this happens to them pretty soon. The person is either having an affair or the relationship has broken up and the two people that were in connection are dating.
My point is not that she’s doing that at all. My point is that it can happen. If nothing else, it’s starting to become an emotional affair which is inappropriate if she’s in a relationship with you.
