If he has an animal you're allergic to, you can't live together. Not for very long anyway.
If he is insistent that he wants the type of dog that will make your health tank, then you must prioritise yourself and never move in with that dog.
Allergies that you haven't grown out of in your 20s are not very likely to get better, though it can happen. However, prolonged exposure – like living with the allergenic creature – is very likely to eventually make your allergy worse, possibly even making you react to more things.
Worst case: If you move in with a lab, you may end up not even being able to have a cat.
Reality check: your boyfriend is telling you that his desire for a particular breed of dog is more important to him than your continued well-being. Regardless of what dog he ends up getting, this is not a good show of partner qualities. I'd seriously reconsider the whole relationship.
