I was in a similar situation on the other side. I’m at peace with it now but I used to really regret not cutting off my situation sooner. She managed to cut it after so much emotional stress. Eventually the scales tip to where the hurt far outweighs the good you experience together. You both already agreed multiple times it wouldn’t work out. Oh man, this absolutely blows. Your whole world has been shook to its foundation, and that will need a lot of work from you. It's not fair—one could even say it's downright mean—to have been duped into it, and you're entitled to feel some—or many—kind of way about it. Right now, you have to take care of your well-being, and if that includes some anger and some distancing, well, that's what you gotta do.
That being said… if you can spare any kindness and compassion for your soon to be ex, well, it'd be a real mensch thing to do. She did an absolute shitty thing, though she probably felt like she was trapped into it by unfortunate circumstance. Again, it's not your duty and no one should complain if you just peace the fuck out, but if you're up to it, leave the world at least a little bit better.

Fascinating observation, thank you for this. She is actually very much into challenging herself. She's very A-type, in that way. She has always pushed herself and been very successful academically, career wise, socially and etc. In many ways, her illness has taken much of that away. I feel like she associates a new baby as a sort of vindication, in some way. If that makes sense? On the other hand, she does LOVE children and loves being a mom, and really wants a bigger family. So there is that, too.

I told her to tell him that I am the one who doesn't want him to join but she still insisted she won't. It hurts because now it's either that she wants to spend time with him and not with me as originally planned or that she lacks boundaries (which is more likely). Like you suggested, I think i'll cancel the trip and do tell her I'm only up for a sisters only trip.
