Anyways, his desire to co-sleep isn't as important as your literal biological need to just get any sleep at all. You can't sustain things like this, you just can't. You can try earplugs and a sleep mask if you really want to try and make this current situation work, and maybe it will help. Otherwise, I think you need to make a big change. Tell him, “You know I've been sleeping terribly lately and I need to try to fix that. For the next little while I can only sleep over with you on X nights of the week (whatever works for you, maybe nights you don't have work the next day). Otherwise either you or I need to go home at the end of the night.”
If he is upset, just reiterate, “I love you, but I need my sleep. My work is suffering and I'm suffering. I really need this.” You can also invite him to be part of the solution and come up with ideas that might make you more comfortable at night. Maybe he will have some helpful input or ideas you haven't thought of.
