One act of violence is enough to say “No.” and walk away. Punching in the face isn’t an accident. Violence of any kind, even cruel language in front of children is enough to say “No.” and walk away.
Choosing to wait around and hope your partner doesn’t hurt you again, or worse – the children – in a fit of reactionary anger isn’t a sign of strength. Waiting for “next time” to finally out your foot down isn’t better.
Putting up with violent behavior isn’t a lesson OP’s children should learn. They should be taught to have personal boundaries for their own mental and physical well-being and stand up for themselves.
OP said this has happened more than once before. There were already “next time”s. It is absolutely acceptable for this to be the Last Time.
