Honestly there is no middle ground. Either you give up what you want and the plans you had and have another child, your wife recommits to the life you have, or you go your separate ways. Honestly with how you have described her behavior I'm questioning how healthy your marriage truly is….punishing, withholding sex, making unilateral decisions (telling you she plans on going part time)….none of that points to a healthy marriage and I'm curious if this is really the only signs of discord. I can emphasize with her….she sees how it could be with a baby….to have the time and money to truly enjoy the experience vs. the stress. And she may be struggling a bit with this is it? Now that she is several years beyond the empty nest.
I would seek marriage counseling for a few different reasons. 1- to help sort through this discussion. 2- for how she is handling this disagreement. Using punishment, withholding sex….none of that has any place in a healthy marriage. If you do decide f-it and have another could you really move beyond HOW you agreed? By being punished….blackmailed….her telling you her wants are more important than yours.
