I would extend more courtesy to a complete stranger than your girlfriend did to you. I think something is clearly bothering her or maybe something has changed? You have every right to be upset. She acted totally inappropriately.
If the roles were reversed, I think it's safe to assume she would be upset? Hell, I think it's even safe to assume that any sane person would be. Is she often passive aggressive and cold like this?
I had a kid at 42, and was a first time parent. All of the older parent stuff people are talking about is really beside the point if you want a kid. You’ll adapt, and there are both pluses and minuses to being an older parent.
But you don’t want another kid. It sounds like your wife is going through a rough time because she’s at the age where she realizes this is her “last chance.”
Having a child at 16 or at 42 are both objectively “not ideal” times to have a kid. The timing is bad on either end.
If I were you I would insist on therapy. This is a big decision, and you need the support because you are at an impasse. Your marriage is suffering because of this difference and you owe it to each other to try to work through it before either of you give up what they want. The alternative is to give up on the marriage.
