Not a newbie to depression/anxiety and it's a beast. Started actually when my mom passed several years ago. The doc just stuck me on a med. Seemed to do fine with it, but no follow ups were done. Lost someone major to me and I was a mess. Hubs was ready to walk out. Even with the antidepressants. New doc. She changed meds, but also said they take up to 60 days to start working and gave me a short term of a “helper” med. I still have bad days, but those are completely normal at this point.
Yes, OP, while we were trying out doses (this doc seems to get it), there were zombie days, just as there were a few days I laid in bed and cried all day. I just kept track on a calendar to help her know because saying a few days here and there doesn't help her. I cannot say enough good things about my GP. She's definitely a champ and on top of it. And please stay actively engaged in her treatment. Even more than meds or a doc that gets it, she needs love and support. It's not easy for you – so you can easily see it's rough on her as well. Think long term, when she'll be all the way back to normal and what a great life you'll have.
