  1. Tell him to go to Vegas and live out his fantasy there. DOn't give in to this – he does not want another guy there with you.

  2. Firstly be happy for and proud of your partner. Get over your jealousy. Though you may want to consider finding another job. Some people find it very hot to be partners at home and supervisor/subordinate at work. There’s a lot of messy power dynamics that can influence behaviors at home and at work. This could be avoided if you work at different places.

  3. You’re right, he never will.

Also FWIW giving in to insecurities is the worst thing you can do. You need to laugh in his face on Day 1 as if it’s the most surprising and ridiculous thing you ever heard, tell him it’s totally fine, and go anyway. He’ll either be reassured over time and get used to it because his fears have proved groundless or he will lose his shit over very normal activities- and if that’s the kind of person he is, that would really confirm this is not someone you should have in your life. But it sounds like you tend to put his feelings first even when it makes you unhappy.

This time you didn’t go, and you apologised and are trying to appease him. But insecurity will just seize on that, and tighten its grip. So now you know that being invited to hang out with coworkers who are male, even with others, is the new baseline for unacceptable.

The next time you want to do something you’re invited to without him, it will be much harder as you already know how he will react, so you probably won’t even mention it because you don’t want him to cut out a friend or coworker or even to get upset, effectively punishing you for someone else’s actions.

And you’ve already given in, so in his mind the next time you want to go, and you don’t want to give in, then something must be up and THAT is the occasion he has to worry about.

How many small changes have you made, or friends you no longer see, because it will put him in a mood and upsetting him “isn’t worth it”?
