I am head to divorce because me and my wife have a VERY different opinion on what disrespectful behavior and discipline is.
She feels (basically) her son is 20years old and her parenting is done. I was there for her son from 16-20. I i watched this boy (IMO) disrespect his mom on almost a daily basis. I explained to her a few times ehat & why i felt it was disrespectful and she just didnt see it. When he started to disrespect me i she was there for a few and said nothing til i brought it up to her. She said shell have a tall with him. No punishment at all. My final straw was he called me a dipshit and maybe i over reacted but after 4 years of this and just have a talkimg to, unless i made a stink and he was grounded, i told him if he ever disrespected me again i was going to kick his ass. That was her final straw. Looking back it put her ignoring it even when i brought it to her attention put a major strain on our relationship.
As much as id love to get back with her. If her and her sons dynamic dont change, i know i could never do it and THAT breaks my heart and keeps me up at night
